SICILIAN THE REBEL
There are anonymous female figures with their little gestures that somehow manages to create a break between the morality of the time in which they live and what comes out of their act. In 1965 a young girl Sicilian is kidnapped, raped and segregated for a few days by a rejected suitor. On his release the society in which she lives is expected to marry her rapist to "wash" the shame that has suffered, but Franca Viola, this is his name, refuses to accommodate a barbaric practice legitimized by the institutions. Pop the case, his family suffered intimidation and assault, but the girl refuses, by its decision overturns a codified social order, to the point of changing the law on the "shotgun wedding". About thirty years later, in the last decade of 900, another young Sicilian is the tragic protagonist of a story paradigmatic the evolution of the fight against the mafia system. Rita Atria is only twelve years old when the mob kills his father, boss modest neighborhood in a small town in the province of Trapani. Father figure to replace his brother Nicholas and then binds him with special affection. He receives the confidences of the gang who murdered their parents, because Nicola is part of the "system". But it is what is called a "small fish" and the first Sgarro will be paid too. The girl begins to reflect on this mob, and after the killing of his brother, despite warnings and threats he decided to tell all he knows the judge Borsellino. Rita is transferred in Rome where, divorced from the mother, lives in complete solitude. In the strange city she hopes to overcome the anger and unhappiness to be born into a family whose moral code is the silence el'omertà ; know a young man with whom he became engaged, keeps a diary where he pours out the bitterness about the consequences that his sense of Justice has caused, evidence of its cruel way for the fight against Cosa Nostra. The only contact that is the world of law is the one with Paolo Borsellino. But a tragic event occurs: the massacre in via D'Amelio, who takes away even that consolation. With the death of Judge Rita Borsellino's exile becomes a desert hopeless despair assaulted the girl kills herself. At his funeral, none of the family, the loneliness goes beyond death, reaches the derision when the mother goes to his grave and a hammer it shatters the stone. But his courage in the decision to collaborate with the justice under the law assumes a particular value that will create a new legal form, that of "witness of justice, legislative recognition to the law n.45 02/13/2001.
From this story the film is inspired by Marco Amenta, The Sicilian rebel, who was warmly welcomed by the public at the Rome Film Festival, but that output in the rooms has aroused much controversy and negative reactions by relatives of the Atria.
